Acting and Auditioning on Camera: Taster Weekend

The Actors Centre.  Acting and Auditioning on Camera. Taster Weekend  Sunday October 16th

On the 16th October the Actors Centre will present a taste of its current range of TV and Casting workshops for professional actors, giving an overview of how TV castings work and the demands of the film set and current practices in British TV today.

Annie Rowe:  Auditions on Camera: 10.30-13.30

We will explore audition technique for a mixture of commercial, corporate and short film casting on camera with play back facilities so you can review your work. These mock auditions will involve using unseen text and improvisation. Please wear clothes you will be free and comfortable to move in. The session will finish with a Q and A followed by Annie’s hot tips.
• Annie trained as an actress at NYT and RADA before becoming a freelance casting assistant in 2007. In 2009, alongside assisting (Gary Davy, Sarah Crowe, Jeremy Zimmerman, Tree Petts and more), Annie began casting independently and is currently the resident casting director for main shows at Theatre503. She also continues to work for, amongst others, The Egg at Theatre Royal Bath, BDA Creative, The Bush Theatre and the Casting Collective. Annie’s website can be viewed at www.annierowe-casting.com

Caroline Webster: ACTING ON CAMERA: 14.30-17.30

Aimed at actors who have little or no experience in front of the camera, this half-day workshop will help demystify the process and protocols of filming. Actors will have the opportunity to work in front of and behind the camera, thereby encountering the purpose and effect of shots, whilst exploring some of the techniques that can help produce an honest and engaging on-screen performance. This half-day session offers an insight into how a film/TV set works, and aims to boost your confidence about acting on screen. A camera operator will be present and short scenes will be recorded and reviewed.
• Caroline Webster began her career as an actress working extensively in theatre and television, and became a familiar face on TV when she played paramedic Jane Scott in four series of BBC1’s hospital drama, Casualty. She is currently a freelance director and photographer, and has written and directed a number of half hour films for Dramatic Media and Tara Television.
